Chicken Run 2 is an upcoming British-American stop-motion animated film produced by Aardman Animations in partnership with Netflix. It is the sequel to Chicken Run, released in 2000. The film will be directed by Sam Fell, from a screenplay by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell, and story by Sam Fell.


Having pulled off a death-defying escape from Tweedy’s English farm, Ginger has finally found her dream – a peaceful island sanctuary for the whole flock, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl called Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems complete. But back on the mainland the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk – this time, they’re breaking in![1]

Chicken Run 2 was announced on 26 April 2018. Aardman Animations will reunite with Pathé and DreamWorks Animation for the sequel though unlike the first film, DreamWorks Pictures will have no involvement as they had ended their partnership with Aardman after the release of Flushed Away in 2006.

Sam Fell is attached to direct, with Steve Pegram and Leyla Hobart producing. The original Chicken Run writers Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell will return for the sequel joined by Rachel Tunnard. Peter Lord, Carla Shelley and Karey Kirkpatrick will be the executive producers. Nick Park will serve as a consultant on the project. The movie is releasing direct to Netflix.[1]

On May 3, the film began production.
